Coalition Government

WTF!?

The entire non conservative part of the government has banded together and has formed a coalition against the conservative party of Canada. They claim to have done this because they do not feel they are fit to lead. They want what is best for the economy.

Well to start off it is not their choice. This is anti democratic. I get mad when members of the house walk floor because I feel it is an insult to whoever voted for that member. This takes the cake. The opposition parties have essentially told the Canadian people that we don't know what's good for us and that our votes mean nothing. Wow that sounds a little dictoral. Guess what you 37% that voted for the conservative party we decided your stupid and that we should veto what you want.

This is a giant slap in the face. I am livid with the coalition. I vow I will never consider voting for another party until every member that thought it was a good idea to form a coalition is out of the party.

I give you this famous quote. "Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both". This means that no matter the coalitions purpose they are wrong. It is in the hands of the people to decide how they want to be lead. Not the government. This is no better than if they stormed the parliament armed and seized power through force.

In the end though I believe this will come back to haunt them here is my reasoning.

The coalition has now ticked off 37.63% of the voters. No one who voted for the conservatives will be pleased with what the opposition has done. This secures the conservatives the same amount of seats if the government falls.

The question is how do the rest feel? Well I bet you that the remaining 62.37% are going to have mixed feelings. Some of the liberals will hate the idea of getting into bed with the NDP and Bloc. Some of the Bloc will hate the idea of getting into bed with the NDP and liberals. And some of the NDP will hate getting in bed with the liberals and the bloc. In short there will be a percentage in each party that is ticked off with the coalition. No one who is pleased by the coalition voted for the Conservatives. Ergo if an election is called the coalition stands only to lose power. And Personally anyone who is foolish enough to agree with the coalition (no matter what it's intentions) deserves to have their vote taken away and be forced into a dictoral country.

Opposite Day Hooray

Let me give you a situation.

Your friend goes and sees a movie. They next day they tell you that it was so incredible that it caused them to lactate through their ears. It cured everyone in the audience of any and all maladies and at the end kittens and puppies descended from the heavens and God himself told every member of the audience that the animals would never need to use the bathroom. This is how incredible this movie is.

You then go to check his claims on the interweb and low and behold rotten tomatoes is unavailable because it has been raptured to heaven after all the critics witnessed the best movie ever.

So wanting to gain the ability to lactate from your ears, cure your horrible nervous twitch that caused you to fling your grandma down the stairs and to get a puppy/kitten that will never poo on the carpet you sprint to the theater as fast as you can and line up with the million other people to see the movie.

You sit down with your popcorn flying everywhere because of you anxiousness or your nervous twitch we're not 100% sure. You sit through the commercials and previews for inferior movies and finally it starts. You spend the entire movie waiting for the heavens to open and your puppy who you have already named Mr Nuttykins to descend. As the movie continues you keep telling yourself no it will get better it will get better. Then the movie climaxes and you expect to finally be able to run through the fields with Mr Nuttykins and to once again be allowed near your grandmother but still nothing. You say to yourself "It must have the best ending!" Then it finishes. You sit there in shock and awe as milk spews from everyone else's ears. The formal cripples in the front row are now perfect river dancers and puppies and kittens frolic among the milky aisles.

But there you sit. Your ears milkless, your puppy nowhere to be found, and you just realized you punched the kid out beside you with your nervous twitch. You realize that you are left with one feeling one resounding three letter word about the entire movie... "meh".

Sorry that story got out of hand but it illustrates the horrible crime of having a movie over hyped to you by friends and Critics. All of us have been victim to it.

Now I move onto why I posted this, the topic? The movie Twilight. An adaptation of Stephanie Myers vampire chic-lit novel of the same name. Now I'm a 21yr old male and I attended this with my wife. I say this to set my sexuality so that you understand that I have not caught the gay (*nttawwt). I enjoyed the books, some parts were a tad mushy for my Manly self but overall they really drew you in. My favourite part of them is that they do exactly what you want (Unless you're my wife and are on team Jacob). The story ends up just how you hope in every way you hope. It feels you with warm happies. While other stories endings sometimes make me say "wow that was a good ending but I wished that 'x' didn't have to be eaten by bees". No the twilight books fill you with sappy glee. Now this is the reason a lot of people(snobs) reject the series they say it doesn't have artistic merit etc etc. We could debate that point but I don't care all I know is it makes me all warm and squishy (as opposed to my current fat and squishy).

Alright so I bet you have already drawn the conclusion of this post. I expected to go see twilight and get a puppy right? Well you're wrong it's opposite day. Twilight got 44% on Rotten tomatoes. A score that usually scares me away from seeing movies. I was also told that the acting was anywhere from "awkward" to "awful" and that the movie deviated greatly from the book. It had been so insulted by my friends and critics that I was debating even seeing it. My wife wanted to go see it as well so I thought meh we have seen bad movies before plus it will be fun to see a loved story on the big screen... All the things I had been told were wrong. It was awesome. The acting while different was excellent very real very teen. You got the feeling the actors may have just been being themselves which I think really really worked. Now you can never adapt a book to a movie 100% they are different mediums with impossible but I hate it when the deviate from the book and insert scenes. It just seems that they could have just kept the original story. So the movie cut some scenes, no Bella passing out from blood, or no Edward forcing Bella to have to be asked to the prom by Tyler. Everything that was in the movie was in the book if only a little altered to fit in with the medium (not like Harry Potter riding a f***ing hypogryph for 30 mins). So I thought it was awesome and I wanted so badly to watch the next movie but unfortunately it hasn't been made... yet.

Alright I've wanted to vent on this for quite some time.

This is the act of removing any religious tones from Christmas time.

here is my beef. Christmas is about as Christian as nuns.

Now you're gonna be all like whoa back dat bus up brother nuns are pretty Christian. No... no they are not. "A Nun" might be but their concept is a complete fabrication of the catholic church. Thats what Christmas is made up. It really has no right to have the place it has. I really believe holidays that are meant to be reflective should be like remembrance day. Not celebrated, we observe remembrance day we don't celebrate it. If there is a holiday that should be kept Christian it is easter but still we were never instructed to celebrate like we do. We just decided to. There is so much dogma and tradition stacked on top of the Christian beliefs that it's not recognized as what it is. I am fine with the securalization of Christmas. They say Jesus is the reason for the season but that is wrong too. Pious Catholic Monarchs are the reason for the season. On the flip side I am totally down with Jesus. I quite like him. I really believe that modern leaders of the Church are no better than pharisees. I mean have you seen the pope. He preaches humility and walks around in an extremely extravagant get-up if thats not a contradiction than I don't know what is.

I am so tired of job hunting. I have not been fired from a single one of those jobs. I either left because of conflicts or the term expired

I need to find another job in the next 2 months and I am not looking forward to it.

Weather Systems

Here is how our system is going to work.

The entire planet starts off as just rock.
Through terraforming you change the planet into something livable.

Once done there will be a certain level of atmosphere pressure and humidity.

To create weather on these systems will require a rotation and a sun. What will then happen is as the sun goes around the planet it will shine on some of the parts of the planet.

The sun will then heat areas of the planet that it is shining on. The closer and more direct the sun is beating on it the more it will heat up. air will gain the characteristics of the earth it is currently over. Therefore if it is shining on dry land it will become warmer and dryer and if it's shining on water it will gain moisture. So if it moves across cooler land it will begin to cool down and release the moisture.

So the game plan for myself is to work with a group member for a bit and get a sun and rotation working than from there compare normals and distance. From there it will be developing the weather system getting the earth and air to react to the sun. After thats done work will begin on getting the ground levels to react with the various temperature levels.

Work needs to ramp up. As far as I know all of us have been laxed on the amount of work we have been putting into this. Things need to be kicked up a gear. Myself included

Camera

A few people have looked at our project and one thing has consistently bothered them. The camera

it doesn't feel right. Something about it just feels odd. It's far to jerky and it really sorta gives the project more of an analytical feel as opposed to an entertainment feel

I sat down to finally have a look at it after thinking of that for awhile. I decided that the camera needed to move more naturally. The best way to do that was rid the camera of it's jerkiness. Before if you rotated the camera or zoomed in or out it checked where the mouse variable was before and where it is now the difference is the speed. So the position would be updated on the speed. So if the speed was 10 then you would move 10 units. If the next frame your speed was 0 then you stopped. In this situation the same thing happens except once you stop it doesn't go to zero it starts to decelerate so it visibly takes awhile to actually stop.

This is more natural as only in a virtual environment can you jump around like that. In the real world everything needs to accelerate and decelerate.

Weather

What makes the grass grow? What gives trees and flowers the ability to breed

Weather is the current conditions as opposed to climate which is the atmosphere over long periods of time.

Weather is made up in the differences between moisture and temperature from one area to the next.

Most of our weather begins with the sun... because I want to avoid the sun as much as possible I guess I am going to have to make it up... dangit.

I guess I can just give it an assumed variable. You won't really see the sun moving or the light changing but we can give it a position and pretend that there is in fact a sun affecting the weather.

Common natural weather effects

Air mass - A large volume of air characterized by it's temperature and moisture. Air masses gather their characteristics by where they are. ie over water it gets wet, over desert it gets hot.

Anticyclone - Opposite of a cyclone. As opposed to weather being pulled away from the surface air is pushed down onto it.

Arctic cyclone - An extremely large air mass found in the artic region that provides various weather effects depending on the season

Clouds - Clouds are a visible mass of water droplets

Crow Instability - Some small air effect. not of significance to our project

Drought - When an area has a deficiency in it's water supply that lasts for a period of months or years

Dust devil - Similar to tornadoes. What makes them different is that they form in sunny weather and are rarely strong enough to damage property or people

Dust storm - Strong winds cause loose particles to be swept up and carried. It's a sandstorm.

Extratropical cyclone - Some sort of basic weather formation... it apparantly helps to drive the weather on planets so more research is required to understand this phenomenon and to get weather working

Foehn wind - When wet air hits a mountain it tends to lose alot of moisture and get warmer. Foehn wind is the warm dry air created

Hail - Irregular chunks of ice created by thunderstorms and usually created on the very head of a storm

Hurricane - aka tropical cyclone. Very large powerful weather affects created by warm rising air. Excellent weather system and is defiantly going to be in the project

Lake effect snow - this is when cold air is blown across a warmer body of water. The air picks up the warm moisture and deposits it onto firm surfaces once it comes off the lake

Lightning - is a discharge of atmospheric charge usually found in thunderstorms but can also be created in volcanic eruptions and dust storms

Mesocyclone - from wiki "is a vortex of air, approximately 2 to 10 km in diameter (the mesoscale of meteorology), within a convective storm.[1] That is, it is air that rises and rotates around a vertical axis, usually in the same direction as low pressure systems in a given hemisphere"

Rain - Atmospheric water droplets eventually form together and fall back to earth this is known as rain and is a staple or weather and ecosystems

Sleet - This is a mixture of snow and rain

Snow - Same thing as rain except frozen into crystals. unlike ice pellets snow falls gently

Squall - Sudden sharp increase in wind speeds

Subtropical cyclone - A mix between tropical cyclones and extratropical cyclones

Supercell - The most severe thunderstorms, they are formed with a mesocyclone in the front and are one of the few cloud formations that may cause tornadoes. They also have severe wind, hail, and downpour.

Temperature inversion - when the gradient of temperature is revised. Normally going away from the earths surface the temperature goes from warmer to cooler. Inversion is the opposite and this causes things such as smog and fog.

Thunder - A sonic shock wave created by lightning

Tornado - Swirling wind vortex of death. Very powerful

Tropical storm - Similar to other large warm air based cyclonic effects... Probably going to move all of them into one category

Weather front - These are the boundaries that separate 2 air masses.

Wind - wind is created when the sun heats the air the air moves up and then more air moves in to occupy it thus creating wind.

Less Common Weather Affects

Diamond dust - Similar to fog except not a blinding and is created with the droplets being frozen and never actually water

Halo - the halo that can appear around the sun from time to time... who cares.

Light pillar - more stuff created by the sun... again who cares.

Raining animals - For seemingly no reason animals fall from the sky, usually fish frogs or birds

Rainbow - a sun based effect no one cares about

Sun shower - it rains while the sun is shining

Sun dog - bright spot on a solar halo... again no one cares

Thundersnow - snow instead of rain

Novaya Zemlya Effect - some sun effect no one cares about.

Thats a list of phenomenons. Going to need to go through them and study some meteorology in order to understand how to replicate some of those effect.

Terraforming

It's been bothering me for awhile.

The subject of terraforming is interesting and complex. Since we started the project I have been trying to think of ways to strike a good balance between blindingly simple and mind numbingly complex.

The issue with the terraforming is that a lot of a planets makeup comes from the system it is in and what sort of star it is orbiting.

I have to look at terraforming without the idea of having a star. It is simply assumed that the star the planet orbits is perfect for the formation of life.

Now the planet starts as just plain rock... In order for it to support life it must have a good balance of atmosphere, temperature and liquid water. The range has to be very good.

(The following is my dumbing down of the reasoning. please do not be upset if I'm a little general or inaccurate. This in no way corresponds to actual physics. merely it is a mockery of them)

Atmosphere	To much atmosphere results in all planetary life being crushed and the heat going through the roof. Thing of it as like having 30 sweaters on in the middle of summer.	To little atmosphere and your planet gets cold. Not to mention water cannot exist properly. If there is not enough pressure than water boils at a lower temperature meaning at some threshold it will simply evaporate.
Temperature	This is easy to figure out. to much and the planet cooks	To little and water can't exist in a liquid state
Water	To much water and the planet becomes an ocean and can't support advanced plants and animals	To little water and the planet will be arid and unable to support plants and animals at all

So in reality the life sustaining of the planet is dependent on only 3 variables. Temperature and atmosphere. So the goal in the terraforming stage will be to get those into the proper range.

Obviously we will not get the variety of minerals and life by merely monitoring whether or not the values are in a correct range. The true fun and variety will come in playing with those ranges. So for example we have all 3 variables at the highest percent they can be. suddenly you have a planet that is hot and arid. There is plenty of water but it has difficulty moving around as the atmoshpere is to dense to allow the water to evaporate and create humidity.

Any thing that can be done to change the terra variables of the planet will affect all of them

Thats the list as it stands now. the more I think about it the more I will be able to come up with. Although 6 different actions seem pretty decent to me. I can see there being one or 2 more at maximum

Started another blog. This one is going to be more focused on my work. I intend to write down ideas here regarding projects and the like I am working on. This idea was given to me by looking at my siblings blogs. I figure I can use this as sort of a journal of my own thoughts.
